STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe that there is one living and true GOD, eternally existing in The Godhead: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this Godhead created all, upholds all, and governs all things.

Gen. 1:1; John 1:1; Col. 1:15-19; Col. 2:9; Deuteronomy 6:4

We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error and the infallible rule of faith and practice. The Word of God is the foundation upon which this church operates and is the basis for which this church is governed. We believe that the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures. It is from God's Word that we establish our doctrine and Statement of Faith.

2 Tim. 3:16-17; Eph. 2:20

We believe that the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures. It is from God's Word that we establish our doctrine and Statement of Faith.

Matt. 22:21

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, eternal, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

John 4:23 ; Exodus 3:14 ; John 14:6; 1 John 4:8; 1 John 5:15

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.

John 3:16 John 1:1 ; Luke 1:26-37 ; Col 1:18; Heb. 4:15

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe and are Born Again in Christ.

John 14:26 ; John 16:8

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.

Ephesians 4:30 ; John 15:26

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all Biblical gifts of the Spirit according to the instructions given to us in 1 Corinthians 12-14.

1 Corinthians 12-14.

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and, therefore, are under condemnation; that God saves and regenerates based upon faith by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and as a result of Grace alone though faith alone they (the sinner) will repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Romans 3:23 ; John 3:18 ; Titus 3:3-8 ; Eph. 2:4-10

We believe the church is the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all who are born again are baptized into the Body of Christ.

Eph. 2:20-21; Eph. 5:23 ; 1 Cor. 12:13

East Valley Christian Fellowship holds that the offices of pastor, elder, and deacon are biblically reserved for qualified men, based on our understanding of Scripture. In 1 Timothy 2:12–14, Paul writes, “I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man… For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived.” We understand this passage to teach that the office of pastor/elder/deacon carries governing and teaching authority within the church.

Additionally, the qualifications for overseers describe the pastor as “the husband of one wife” (1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:6), which we interpret as indicating male leadership in these roles. We believe the whole of Scripture—the canon as a unified revelation—is consistent with this understanding.

While we affirm the equal value, dignity, and spiritual gifting of women in ministry (Galatians 3:28), we believe that the offices of pastor, elder, and deacon are designated by Scripture for qualified men only.

1 Timothy 2:12-14; 1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:6; Gelatians 3:28

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church: (a) full immersion water baptism of believers, and (b) the Lord's Supper. We also believe that the Lord Jesus Christ validated the ordinance of marriage between Man and Woman.

Matthew 28:19 ; Mark 10:9 ; 1 Cor. 11:23-26

We believe that water baptism is not a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.

1 Peter 3:21-22

We believe that Repentance and Baptism are commanded of all believers who have believed.

Acts 2:38.

We believe that all believers are to be Baptized in The Name of Jesus Christ.

The Acts of the Apostles

We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ which is His personal, bodily, visible return to earth, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless separation of the wicked.

Revelation 19:11-21; 20:11-15

We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell and that all those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord.

John 3:16 ; Matt. 18:8 ; 25:41; Revelation 21:1-4
