How To Get a Podcast

Podcasting today, is used by thousands of listeners. It is a convenient way of listening and downloading your favorite Radio Shows, Broadcasts, and Studies. Podcasting is really simple, you download & install the appropriate software, link it to a special XML link, and then… let it download all recent sermons straight to your computer when they are ready to feed. Please follow the directions below.

#1 - The Software -

First you need the software. Click here to download iTunes. Remember to select the appropriate OS you are using. This will then take you to a download page. Download and Install.

Once the software is downloaded and installed, which is pretty simple to do on your own. The software itself will explain it to you. Go ahead and restart your computer (if you must).

#2 - Grabbing the feed -

Now that you have hopefuly installed the software correctly onto your computer, y ou are ready to grab our special XML feed. Below you will find directions for both Windows and Mac Users. Please find and follow the directions that correspond to you.

WINDOWS USERS:

1. Open iTunes from your desktop (or wherever installed)

2. Please highlight and copy this link here: http://www.evcf.com/podcast.cfm

3. On the top of the iTunes interface, you will find the ‘Advanced’ tab. Click there and select ‘Subscribe to Podcast…’

4. Now on the ‘Subscribe to Podcast…’ menu, paste the link you copied in Step 2 and click ‘OK’

5. Now you should automatically (if connected to the internet correctly) see iTunes download all messages from East Valley.

You are all set to go. Now whenever we update our Podcasts… you will be updated every time you open iTunes. It’s that simple.

MAC USERS:

1. Open iTunes from your dock.

3. On the top Menu Bar of your Desktop, you will find the ‘Advanced’ tab. Click there and select ‘Subscribe to Podcast…’

4. Now on the ‘Subscribe to Podcast…’ menu, paste the link you copied in Step 2 and click ‘OK’

5. Now you should automatically (if connected to the internet correctly) see iTunes download all messages from East Valley.

  You are all set to go. Now whenever we update our Podcasts… you will be updated everytime you open iTunes. It’s that simple.

You are all set and ready to start podcasting.

Modifying iTunes for your personal uses, such as, only downloading certain amounts of podcasts, deleting old podcasts, and filtering special types of podcasts, is very easy. You can find all these options here:

WINDOWS USERS:

1. In iTunes, select ‘Edit’ on the top and scroll down to and select ‘Preferences’ (or simply press and hold CTRL and then ” , ” )

2. Now you should see the ‘Preference’ window.

3. Select the ‘Podcast’ tab and there you will find all the options for maintaining your Podcasts. Have Fun.

MAC USERS:

1. In iTunes, on the top Menu Bar, click on ‘iTunes’ and click on ‘Preferences’.

#3 - Now the Reason & Use of Podcasting -

“So why do I need this Podcast stuff?” Well… you don’t. But It’s nice to have all the recent sermons downloaded to your computer. Podcasting was developed for easy use and transfer to listen on your iPod or any other mp3 device which you may use while exercising, shopping, in your car or any other place you enjoy.
